Do you know your cholesterol number? High cholesterol is one of the major controllable factors for coronary heart disease, which is the number one cause of death for women. A recent study conducted by Harris Interactive for Cheerios found that more than one-third of adults (37 percent) have not had their cholesterol checked within the past year.*Those with limited access to adequate healthcare may not get regular cholesterol screenings and thus are at an even greater risk for heart disease.

Wondering how you can help? Now through January 31, 2010, for every code entered at
www.cheerioshelpinghearts.com Cheerios will donate $1, up to $200,000, to raise awareness for heart disease and provide free cholesterol screenings for women in need, through its partnership with WomenHeart. Codes will be featured inside specially marked boxes of Cheerios cereal.

I'm participating in this promotion from Cheerios because this is so important. I've been one of those women who don't have adequate healthcare and it's scary. I encourage all of you to take part in this project. It doesn't take a lot to participate, and the payoff is tremendous. With the economy the way it is and so many people losing their jobs, access to healthcare will become more and more of an issue.

To encourage all of you to participate, Cheerios has given me something to giveaway on my blog. I have 2 freshwater pearl bracelets to give away! You can see one of them in the picture on the right. I have to tell you that I received one of these bracelets and it's very nice, has a nice weight to it and the pearls aren't teeny tiny. It has a pretty heart charm hanging from it. This is a bracelet you're going to want to have ladies!

Make sure to click on the Cheerios Healthy Heart logo up above to visit their official website for more information.

Every year we lose more people to AIDS. It hasn't disappeared and it's not going away anytime soon. I urge you to seek out and support your local AIDS Organizations. Encourage everyone you know to practice safe sex and to get tested once a year. Even if you don't think you are at risk, get tested. I didn't think I was at risk either, and I almost died before I was diagnosed.
