Keeping Yourself Safe on Facebook
6:54 PMSo many of us are on Facebook, including a lot of our kids. While it might seem harmless enough, everyday we are posting information there without any real thought to who might be reading it. I ran across this great article in the New York Times online, about 5 things you could do to keep yourself safer on Facebook and thought it was good information to pass along. These are the five topics discussed and how you can set up your account to prevent problems.
- Make Friend Lists
- Who Can See What On Your Profile
- Who Can See Your Address and Phone Number
- Who Can Find You On Facebook via Search
- Stop Sharing Personal Info With Unknown Applications
I'm going to be taking a look at my account and making sure I'm not sharing information that I don't want to be shared. Facebook can be fun and a great way to keep in touch with people, but it can also be used in ways we never expect it to be. Better to be safe than sorry.
