Description (Publisher Website)

Once a month, the six women of the Sweetgum Knit Lit Society g
ather to discuss books and share their knitting projects. Inspired by her recently-wedded bliss, group leader Eugenie chooses “Great Love Stories in Literature” as the theme for the year’s reading list–a risky selection for a group whose members span the spectrum of age and relationship status.
As the Knit Lit ladies read and discus classic romances like
Romeo and Juliet,Wuthering Heights, and Pride and Prejudice, each member is confronted with her own perception about love. Camille’s unexpected reunion with an old crush forces her to confront conflicting desires. Newly widowed Esther finds her role in Sweetgum changing and is surprised by two unlikely friends. Hannah isn’t sure she’s ready for the trials of first love. Newcomer Maria finds her life turned upside-down by increasing family obligations and a handsome, arrogant lawyer, and Eugenie and Merry are both asked to make sacrifices for their husbands that challenge their principles.
Even in a sleepy, southern town like Sweetgum, Tennessee, love isn’t easy. The Knit Lit ladies learn they can find strength and guidance in the novels they read, the love of their fam
ily, their community–and especially in each other.

Review

I really enjoyed this book. While it was the second book in the series, it definitely could be read on it's own. It did make me want to go back and read how it all began though. I thought the characters were believable and the type of women you find in every small town.

This is a great light read that anyone will enjoy. The women in the story all have very different perspectives and are of all age groups. We watch as the definition of love changes for all the women over the course of the book. I honestly was not ready for the story to end. While it was a fairly quick read, I did find myself really wanting to know how the story ended for the characters.

I'd definitely recommend this book!

Every year we lose more people to AIDS. It hasn't disappeared and it's not going away anytime soon. I urge you to seek out and support your local AIDS Organizations. Encourage everyone you know to practice safe sex and to get tested once a year. Even if you don't think you are at risk, get tested. I didn't think I was at risk either, and I almost died before I was diagnosed.
